This is my favorite tour for adults and children of all ages. We start the tour at the newly renovated Union Station or your hotel. Union Station at its peak had over 50 trains or more that traveled through the station during the train boom period. Now it is an impressive Beaux-Arts structure that houses light rail, with a hotel with restaurants, shops, coffee bars all inside the building as well as more businesses outside. From Union Station or your hotel we will go to Golden Colorado and visit the Colorado Railroad Museum which has a very rich history of the railroad industry in Colorado. Colorado pioneered the railroads narrow gauge mountain railway system that allowed the railroads to go high into the mountains. The museum itself is a replica of an 1880 style railroad depot and the many acres of the grounds have many of the original trains that were used in Colorado. After visiting the railway museum we drive up the mountain to Georgetown. In Georgetown we will take the Georgetown Loop. This train is famous for its historic narrow gauge that takes us up the mountain to Silverplume and back. Georgetown is an old silver mining town that seems like you may be in a lifetime romance movie due to its Victorian homes and western buildings such as the "Hotel de Paris" museum that used to be a bakery and then a hotel with the finest French cuisine out west. Fr0m there we are on our way back to Denver.
